Learn, Improve, Master by Nick Velasquez is an excellent primer on cultivating one’s intrinsic learning capabilities. Each chapter breaks down potentially complex topics into digestible chunks that are actionable and easy to recall. I’ve read a number of books on meta-learning, but I admit that sometimes I have to bolster my motivation to read them. Learning about learning can too easily get sidetracked by YouTube distractions. However, Learn, Improve, Master was a quick and enjoyable read with engaging anecdotes that held my attention. I particularly enjoyed the second chapter on myths and misconceptions, which sets the reader up to set aside limiting beliefs with a clean slate. I plan on reviewing the chapter on mnemonics and the PAO system to improve my retention of Japanese vocabulary. I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced pre-launch copy of Learn Improve Master, so I had ample time to immerse myself in the content. In this book, you will come to understand that not all learning is created equal. Nick offers principles and strategies that shape "learning" as a practical skill encompassing the ability of an individual to scaffold and master two distinct behavioural modalities of learning- acquisition, and application.
